We offer full-service interior design, meaning we manage projects from initial concept through completion. We take care of the major and minute design details that turn a house into a home. Our projects consist of three major phases:

Our services include, but aren’t limited to:
- Custom cabinetry
- Custom furniture design
- Fabrics and upholstery
- Floor coverings and rug design
- Floor plans and space planning
- Furniture and accessories

We maintain a network of contractors, workrooms fabricators, finishers, painters, installers, movers, crafters, artists, and experts to support our business.
The Concept Design Stage lasts approximately eight weeks and includes these services:
- We’ll assess the current project space, take measurements and photos, and document current items that will remain.
- We’ll design the ideal floor plan, creating the best possible layout for the project.
- We’ll create inspiration boards to illustrate our vision for the project.
- We’ll determine initial selections to confirm the design direction.
- We’ll create an investment estimate for the elements needed to make the project a reality, from furnishings to trades, including one revision offered (This revision will add time to this stage depending on the scale of the revision).
- We’ll conduct “Trade Day” at your home. We’ll consult with our trades and vendors on site to review the project concepts and take detailed measurements in order to receive accurate quotes. It’s imperative to be on-site with vendors to discuss obstacles and options from the beginning.
Concept Design includes the following:
- Floor plans
- Inspiration board
- Limited initial selections
- Updated investment estimate for approval
The Detailed Design Stage lasts approximately eight weeks and includes these services:
- We’ll select each item according to design direction, investment estimate, and floor plan.
- We’ll gather written quotes from trades and vendors.
- We’ll select final items according to approved inspiration boards and initial selections.
- We’ll finalize the approved floor plan with these actual selections.
- We’ll complete drawings/elevations where necessary.
- We’ll confirm final costs against the approved investment estimate.
- We’ll propose each item for your approval with coordinating samples.
Detailed Design includes the following:
- Inspiration boards
- Floor plans, relevant elevations and drawings
- Proposal of each item for your approval
- Investment estimate updated with actual costs
The Purchasing & Production Stage is time-dependent on the scope of the project and trade schedules/lead times. It includes these services:
- We’ll place orders and assess delivery times.
- We’ll purchase all goods on your behalf.
- We’ll communicate estimated delivery times.
- We’ll manage and track open orders.
- We’ll prepare the installation timeline.
- We’ll provide site checks for project accuracy.
- We’ll coordinate deliveries and installations.
- We’ll be on-site during deliveries and installations where applicable.
- We’ll provide turnkey furniture installation, which means all furnishings are delivered at one time after any necessary construction.
- We’ll plan and prepare the styling process.
- We’ll style and photograph the completed project where applicable.
- We’ll provide documentation of care and maintenance of your newly completed project.
- We’ll identify and resolve any outstanding details noted during installation in the format of a project punch list.
- We’ll present a styling price list and pick up items to be returned where applicable.
The Concept Design Stage typically takes approximately eight weeks and the Detailed Design Stage takes approximately eight weeks. The Purchasing & Production Stage is time-dependent on the scope of work and the schedules/lead times of any trades/vendors.
We want your project completed and beautiful as much as you do. Supply chain and delivery times are affected by multiple factors and, these days, aren’t just unpredictable, they’re impossible to guarantee. We’ll communicate the most current lead times we know.
As every project is different, Kevin will meet with you and assess the scope of work and determine the design fee accordingly. Full-service interior design is a flat design fee per project.
All purchasing and production goes through us. Your purchase of interior design items (furniture, tile, fixtures, fabrics, etc.) through us will serve as payment for our services during the Purchasing & Production Stage. We charge commercially reasonable “retail” prices.
We’ve developed and refined this process throughout our business and do not deviate from it. We offer a chance for one revision during each Design Stage. We don’t suggest multiple options during design presentations as we find too many options weaken the entire design. All items in a project are not interchangeable. We develop layered, thoughtful, detailed designs. Our true value is in putting together the perfectly balanced mix.
Full-service interior design features to-the-trade pieces purchased through Kevin Roman. While it may seem easy in hindsight to swap out a few items for less expensive options, this isn’t how full-service interior design functions. Our agreement is that we set an investment estimate together, then furnishings are purchased through Kevin Roman. This is the business model we maintain to make our flat fees functional as a business.
We require 100% deposit on all orders. Once a custom order is placed, it is non-refundable. While unforeseen situations may arise on a client’s side, custom orders cannot be paused or cancelled. We function best as a design firm, not a bank.
Those realities aside, there are benefits to paying 100% up front:
- It cuts paperwork in half (instead of billing for a deposit and a final invoice).
- Projects move more quickly this way, as it makes the entire order process more efficient and allows us to complete your project sooner.
- Since we do turnkey project installations (one delivery only after all of the orders are at the local receiver’s warehouse), you would already be required to pay for items in full prior to receiving them.
We work both with clients local to Chicago and in other cities. Modern business functions like video calls and express shipping make this possible and efficient for everyone. Our flat design fee can include travel and accommodations for site visits and installation days so there are never any surprise charges.
We can invite you to talk with our clients about their experience working with Kevin Roman.
When you reach out to our office, you’ll receive a brief Welcome Call and a video Meet and Greet to discuss working together. You can reach out to our office here:

Beauty
Our scrub is handmade, sometimes made to order. Orders may take 3-5 business days to ship. Once an order ships, allow another 2-5 business days for domestic delivery. For international delivery, we’ll contact you to review additional necessary shipping charges.
Since our scrub is made to order, we’re sorry that we can’t offer returns. We do however want you to be completely happy with your order. If your order arrives damaged, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Our scrub is made without harsh synthetics and unnatural preservatives. Honey is itself a natural preservative. Keep your scrub free from collecting water (this is where mold and impurities enter) and we’ve had jars last up to 12 months.
While some have used it on the face, our scrub is intended for body use only. Citrus oils can make skin sun-sensitive. Care is advised with exposure to sun immediately following use. Use your scrub as a relaxing therapy after sunbathing.
Our grapefruit scrub is made entirely from food-grade ingredients, however it’s not a good habit to eat your beauty products.
As with any natural oils, our scrub may make your tub a bit slippery. It’s always smart to use caution in the shower.
