Let’s talk about investments.
What does design cost?
Full-service design is more than the cost of your furnishings. It involves start-to-finish design and management services, including:
- Concept and Detailed Design – Design fees are calculated based on the details and complexity of your project.
- Merchandise and Materials – Every product and element needed for your project is researched and planned.
- Contractors and Trades – For renovations, the total cost of contractors and deliveries is calculated and quoted.
We consider design fees, merchandise, and contractor pricing along with freight, receiving, and delivery to calculate a total investment ballpark. This will be broad at first and be fine-tuned through the Concept Design stage. Since we begin budget expectations from day one, every dollar is well spent.

Where do we start building this budget? Here’s an example of a fully-appointed “Ideal Living Room.” This isn’t an estimate as much as an example of where an introductory budget can begin. This example includes American-made upholstery with performance fabrics, imported case-goods, and stylish furnishings.
What about other spaces?
Larger spaces and luxury options demand a bigger investment. Renovation budgets adjust according to the scope of work and include additional contractor costs. Premium kitchen cabinets can range above $100K, making full kitchen renovations often begin at $100-200K.
These additional examples include design fees, freight, and necessary trade labor:
